ASSISTANT ATHLETIC DIRECTOR FOR FACILITIES AND OPERATIONS

POSITION SUMMARY:

This full-time position provides administrative leadership for an NAIA Division II program in the competitive KIAC conference fielding seven sports teams. The Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Operations is responsible for all elements of athletic facility management; supervision of personnel; game management and operations, facilities scheduling and supervision, and assisting in the overall management of the athletic program. Regular evening and weekend work required. Serves in absence of the Athletic Director. Position reports directly to the Athletic Director.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree

1 year intercollegiate athletic experience

1 year supervision experience

Facility management and/or game operations experience preferred

In-depth knowledge of NAIA rules and regulations

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, webpage design, Excel

Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills

Proven orientation toward quality service and teamwork

Proven leadership and organizational skills

Strong commitment to the academic achievement and personal growth of student-athletes

Valid driver's license

Ability to lift and transport items in excess of 100 pounds

Average mobility needed

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

CPR certification (department will provide if needed)

 

 

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

Assist the Athletic Director in the establishment of goals, action plans and assessment measures to promote and develop athletics, fitness/recreation, and intramural activities. Compile reports and statistics on the effectiveness of the overall athletic program.

 

Oversee the operations of the Activities Building, all outdoor playing fields and courts, and recreation areas on campus.

 

Manage the organization and supervision of intercollegiate athletic events on campus, including, but not limited to: setting up the venues, securing game workers, contracting and greeting game officials, and the scheduling of event personnel and security for home athletic events as required by the NAIA.

 

Supervise the Athletic Trainer, Women's Tennis Coach, Men's Tennis Coach, Volleyball Coach, Cheerleader Coach, and Dance Team Coach. 

 

Manage the operation of the department's concession stands. Maintain and control inventory and ensure compliance with all Indiana Health Department regulations. Must attend food safety course and become a certified food handler/manager per Indiana Health Code (department will provide if necessary).

 

Coordinate the maintenance and preservation of all athletic facilities in conjunction with the Physical Plant department.

 

Make suggestions for facility improvements and preventative maintenance and assist coaches and intramurals staff with the management and long-term planning of their athletic facilities. 

 

Manage and supervise all varsity athletic events.

 

Coordinate the setup, take down and cleaning of all athletic facilities while ensuring safe operating procedures. Request repairs or work orders as needed to maintain quality facilities. 

 

Oversee the selection of student workers for games, including concession workers, ticket takers and equipment operators.

 

Prepare electronic documents to hire new employees and audit time sheets for all game management personnel.

 

Maintain department online master facility calendar and work with individuals and teams to schedule all athletic facility usage including practice, conditioning, intramurals and varsity games.

 

Make arrangements to provide officials, announcers, scorekeepers, equipment, custodians, concessions, and gate attendants needed for any campus athletic event.

 

Assist in the development and preparation of the annual athletic department budget.

 

Assist the sports information specialist with the coordination and operational aspects of half-time entertainment and game promotions.

 

Assist with departmental fundraising activities.

 

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

MIDWAY COLLEGE HEAD JV BASKETBALL COACH  

 

We are seeking applicants for a regular, part-time, 10-month Junior Varsity coaching position.  This position is responsible for the management of all aspects of a successful women's junior varsity, intercollegiate program.  Primary responsibilities include practice planning and supervision, scheduling of games and travel, budget management, academic supervision, eligibility compliance, and assistance with ongoing recruitment.

 

Position requires a bachelor's degree, coaching experience, preferably at the college level, and demonstrated ability to coach and recruit skilled student-athletes.  Background check and acceptable driving record required.
