The KIAC coaches selected Alice Lloyd College forward Ariel Nickell as the conference player of the year and Asbury University head coach Bart Flener as the conference coach of the year, conference officials announced Thursday, February 27th.
Ariel Nickell led Alice Lloyd College to a 17-10 overall record and 12-6 conference record. The Eagles entered the KIAC Tournament as the No. 3 seed. Nickell was near the top in the conference and nationally in several statistical categories. She ranked 1st in NAIA Division II rebounds per game (13.538) and 2nd in points per game (25.808). She also ranked 9th in 3-point field goal percentage (42.3) which led the KIAC. She ranked 7th in the KIAC in field goal percentage (48.4) and was 3rd in free throw percentage (76.7). She was selected as the KIAC Player of the Week twice this season. Nickell was also named KIAC Player of the Year the last two seasons.
Asbury University head coach Bart Flener was named the conference coach of the year. Flener led the Eagles to a 24-6 overall record and 13-4 conference record. They shared the regular season title with Point Park and entered the KIAC Tournament as the No. 2 seed.
Cincinnati Christian University junior Amanda Baute was selected as the newcomer of the year after transferring to CCU for her junior season. Baute ranked 3rd in the conference in points per game (20.67), 1st in field goal percentage (54.4), 4th in steals per game (2.33) and 3rd in rebounds per game (10.37). She also ranks 10th in NAIA Division II points per game and rebounds per game.
