NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The top-seeded IU Southeast women's tennis team overcame a 4-1 deficit to win its 15th-straight KIAC Tournament championship over No.2 seed Brescia on Saturday.

The Grenadiers (12-2) did not continue their winning ways during doubles. The No. 3 doubles team of Katherine Clark/Maddie Ikerd picked up an 8-1 victory over LeAnne Myers/Emily Hellinger but the No.1 team of Katie Walsh/Whitney Batliner fell 8-6 and Ashley Bunch/Katie Morrison lost 8-5.

IU Southeast's top two singles players, Katie Walsh and Ashley Bunch, dropped their matches so the Grenadiers needed to sweep the final four singles matches to win the championship.

Whitney Batliner dispatched Dakota Durrett 6-0, 6-0. Maddie Ikerd defeated Tarsila Duck 6-2, 6-2 and Katie Morrison defeated LeAnne Myers 6-1, 6-2.

Katherine Clark won the first set of her match against Emily Hellinger 6-3, but fell behind 4-3 in the second set. She rallied to win the final three games of the set to win the match 6-3, 6-4.

With the win, the Grenadiers advance to the NAIA Tennis National Championships in Mobile, Ala. in May 2014.
