The Wilson Evans Tennis Complex at Berea College underwent a complete renovation this summer.
The courts have been resurfaced with the Premier Court ® surface coating. This new coating is designed to reduce injuries and provide consistency of player performance with this state-of-the art, all-weather, cushioned surface. The new tennis court and fencing project, commissioned by Berea College Seabury Center and Athletics, was refinished by local surfacing specialists at Tennis Technology, Inc., a company based out of Louisville, Kentucky.
Five courts are now open for use, with the remaining courts tentatively scheduled for completion by the end of September, weather permitting. The courts are used frequently by Berea College physical education courses, Men's and Women's tennis team practices and Seabury Center patrons. The courts are also available to the general public for recreational use and are a popular spot for the community's local tennis enthusiasts.
Berea College Athletic Director, Mark Cartmill, believes the new court surface will help Berea's student-athletes play their best, reduce injuries, and provide another resource to keep the campus community healthy and active. "We're really excited about the new surface. From the maintenance side, the new crack-proof surface will provide a soft surface that's easy to play on and that people will enjoy using. We hope the new surface will make our courts one of the top spots to play in Kentucky."
