Indiana University East's tennis players shared the court with an ace classmate on Aug. 14.The Red Wolves joined an IU East traveling party that cheered on tennis star and IU East student Venus Williams during her first-round match at the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Williams is pursuing a business degree through IU East's online programs. This was the first match Williams played near IU East since enrolling at the school.
Williams acknowledged the IU East cheering section during her on-court post-match interview. The tennis players then got a chance to meet Williams following her three-set victory. The Red Wolves chatted about tennis and school, got autographs and posed for photos.
Williams was scheduled to play her second-round match at the Western & Southern Open
on Aug. 15. Her classmates on the IU East tennis teams open their
seasons Aug. 23 against the University of Saint Francis at Glen Miller
