The Alice Lloyd sophomore was also named the women's basketball player of the year earlier this season. She played in 32 games this season and scored 719 points which ranked 3rd in the NAIA. She was also 4th in points per game (22.47), 5th in defensive rebounds per game (7.3), 15th in total rebounds per game (9.5), and 18th in total steals (80). The Eagles finished third in the regular season with a conference record of 6-5.
In addition to being named conference player of the year, Nickell received a number of other honors. She was named a NAIA Second Team All-American and selected for the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame "Ring of Honor". The "Ring of Honor" included a select few women's basketball players from around the country who were asked to send a jersey to the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in Knoxville, TN. Her jersey will join 99 other jerseys of women's basketball players selected from all levels recognizing female basketball players who achieved remarkable seasons.
